-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aside from the political and economic interests that have been revealed in the Peruvian government's recent conflict with native communities, what should concern the Christian church most is the issue of discrimination.
When the president of Peru sarcastically states that the Congress has turned into a "chichería," (derogatory term referring to common parties held among people in Indigenous regions), really what he's saying is "Why do we even have Indigenous people serving as representatives in Congress?"
One of the churches in the Presbytery of Northern Lima is inviting the churches of Northeast Lima Presbytery to attend a Day of Reflection and Participation to address this issue.
We encourage our readers to acquire a biblical-theological understanding of the new manner in which discrimination is manifested against unfairly called "second-class citizens."
Let us strengthen our communication network, so that we can all share in the experiences and realities in which we live as Latin American people.
